Five Unique Campsites To Visit In Eastern Cape

The Eastern Cape offers camping sites in popular holiday destinations – in or near nature reserves and wildlife parks, near famous landmarks, on the coast and on popular tourism routes. We’ve put together a list of five campsites. Some of them provide you with tents so that you don’t have to lug yours along, and others are just sites we thought you should know about. Most of them are smallish, so private and quiet. However, regardless, we know you’ll enjoy them.

Kleinrivier Wilderness

Sharing two borders with the Groendal Wilderness Area and only 70 kilometers from Port Elizabeth, Kleinrivier offers you the ideal escape from the pressures of the city life. This is a game farm experience, Kleinrivier is anything but here, you’re encouraged to notice dragonflies, frogs, woodpeckers, and dassies – nit lions.

Yellowwood Forest

Yellowwood is a peaceful place surrounded by enormous trees and lush riverine vegetation, a tranquil and bird watching paradise. The unique forest retreat on the bank of the Inchara River is one kilometre from Morgan Bay beach. There are bunnies, guinea pigs, birds and a magical playground with a treehouse. The decks, ladders, bridges, swings, slides, trampolines, toys, bikes and carts will keep kids entertained. You will also enjoy short walks, bicycle riding, fishing, swimming and canoeing.

Tube N Axe, Storms River, Tsitsikamma

A rustic African stone rondavel provides a central ablution facility to Storms River Camping with hot showers and a zesty outdoor atmosphere.
