Your 10-day Safari Itinerary to Exploring South Africa

This popular itinerary can be customized to match your budget and travel dates by adding/removing a few days or selecting different lodges.

The Cape Winelands

Day 1-2: Welcome to South Africa

On Arrival at the Cape Town International Airport, you will be met and transported to The Dock House Boutique Hotel. The hotel has been transformed into one of Cape Town’s most exclusive and elegant boutique hotels. This will be your home for the next two nights with your bed and breakfast included. A half day tour of Cape Town and Table Mountain is included, plus some free time to explore all that Cape Town has to offer.

Day 3-4: Explore the Winelands

After spending two nights at the Dock House Boutique Hotel, you will collect your hired vehicle and make your way to Stellenbosch. You will be staying for two nights at the Majeka House Hotel. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Stellenbosch and is the perfect retreat during your visit to the Cape Winelands. Explore Stellenbosch with its interesting shops, galleries, and museums. Take in its beautifully preserved Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture and explore the renowned local wine route. An ideal way to relax and get ready for the safari portion of your holiday.

Day 5-6: Visit the sunkissed beach of Plettenberg Bay

Depart from the Mother City by car hire and drive to the beautiful Garden Route where you will spend two nights at the Tsala Treetop Lodge in Plettenberg Bay. The Lodge is set amidst the treetops of an age-old indigenous forest. Tsala is a lavish celebration of the spirit of Africa. Here you will get the opportunity to explore the pristine beaches, tranquil lagoons, clean rivers, indigenous forest, and a dramatic rocky peninsula. This will be your home for the next two nights with bed and breakfast included.

Day 7-9: See the Big Five

After breakfast, you bid Plettenberg Bay Farewell as you make your way to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Hoedspruit Airport via Johannesburg. On arrival, you will be transported to Kapama Southern Camp – where you will stay for three nights with all your meals included. Kapama Southern Camp is located in the extreme south of the Kruger National Park. The camp is known for its diverse wildlife experiences and is home to the Big Five, with its two daily game drives, fascinating encounters with the prolific wildlife is ensured. Highlights will be an authentic African safari experience as well as activities such as game drives and nature walks.

Day 10: Departure

Today is your last day on this South African safari. Enjoy your final morning activities followed by a leisurely breakfast before being collected at the hotel and transferred to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg where you can then join your connecting flight back home. If you opted to rent a 4×4 hire from car hire, South Africa, you will be able to return the vehicle on your arrival to the airport.
