Cape Town Events That Will Continue In 2021

Since lockdown was enforced in March, I’ve been working from home and have had limited contact with the outside world. Don’t get me wrong it is fantastic to catch up on all those binge-worthy series with no one to judge how much popcorn I’m shovelling in, but I’m starting to scrape the barrel here and miss going out to meet up with friends. I plan on making the most of it when things return to normal and these are some of the Cape Town events I’m looking forward to.

Summer Concerts at Kirstenbosch

The Kirstenbosch botanical gardens nestled against the slopes of Table Mountain is famous for its breathtaking views and the perfect setting for this summer staple in Cape town that takes place between November and April. Bring a picnic basket and some wine, or pre-order from the venue, and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to well-loved local and international artists perform on stage.

Absa Cape Epic

The Cape epic takes place in the Western Cape and follows a route along rugged mountain tracks and the sandy farm roads between beautiful orchids and pristine fynbos. Mountain bikers come from all over to enter this gruelling and mentally demanding multi-stage race that takes place over eight days. It has become a right of passage for bikers who put in months of preparation and training leading up to the event.

Camper hire is the most popular option for the Cape Epic, but please remember that they sell out extremely quickly so make sure to book well in advance.

Cape Town Jazz Festival

This has become one of the most sought after events to perform at for both international and local artists and takes place yearly on the last weekend of March or the first weekend of April at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. With its star-studded lineup gracing 5 different stages it is a festival worth experiencing.

Overland Expo

A premier event for adventure travel and four-wheel-drive enthusiasts featuring the latest and best travel equipment, camping gear, vehicles, and more. Whether you’re new to the 4×4 life, looking for additional gear, or an upgrade, you’ll find plenty of demonstrations, training, and activities to help you along. People who share the love of the Overlanding lifestyle come together here to connect, celebrate, and share their experiences.

If you really want to explore this to the nth degree have a look at our full 4×4 rental range beforehand and make sure you’re well educated for this epic adventure.

SA Cheese Festival

The 20th SA Cheese Festival will take place at Sandringham farm outside of Stellenbosch from the 24th to the 26th of April 2021. You’ll find a delicious selection of cheese from old classics to unique artisan creations and some exciting foods to compliment them. Enjoy a day out listening to live music while sipping on your favourite wine.
