New Air Namibia Routes

Air Namibia has put into practice a new business strategy, now in full swing, running from 2011 through to 2016 and putting plenty of plans for growth into action. With the implementation of their new business plan the airline recently launched three new routes direct to Harare, Ondjiva and Gaborone opening up new regional destinations offering more flexibility and connecting times.

Preferred Means of Transport

These are the ninth set of routes added to the SW regional flights serviced by their Embraer ERJ-135 aircraft with a direct connect from the hub and international central station of Windhoek. A geographically focused networked routing system was introduced in October 2011; these additions are time to ensure the best possible connections to these SW routes.

Air Namibia signed the papers for two of the new Airbus A330-200, both of which are expected to take off officially in October 2012 and will be replacing the Airbus A340-300 that is currently being used by the airline. The two Airbus A330-200s will be put into the fleet to run the airlines flagship route between Frankfurt and Windhoek and other long-haul destinations. The new aircraft has a 244 capacity with 30 business class and 214 economy class seats.

Air Namibia has a zero-tolerance approach to flight delays and cancellations. The airline is focused on fantastic service and providing passengers with a great travel experience through the power of convenience. The Airbus A330 is rated amongst the most cost-effective twin-engine aircraft in operation at the moment since it provides low cost operational flexibility. Combined with the A319-100 fleet that is currently running the national airlines regional route the addition of the Airbus A330 is predicted to further boost the airlines’ offerings.

Air Namibia – The Plans for the Future

There are three flights a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to Gaborone, and there are four flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays covering Harare while the Ondjiva route will be opened at a later stage taking passengers to and from Angola and direct flights are available to all of these locations making Namibia another gem in the African crown due to their continued efforts with access and convenient travel in and out of the country.

The recent launch of the new Air Namibia routes is aimed at strengthening the current SW network found within the country, across its borders in the rest of the African regions and internationally.

With the recent developments and current growth, there are fantastic plans in the pipeline and already in progress for the airline to become independent following a five-year plan that by the end of 2016 would make it profit focused. The future looks bright for Air Namibia.
